I feel like I am so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to Christmas crafts. People have been showing off their cute projects for weeks and I'm just getting around to it. Better late than never, right?
The other day I dug out some extra Scrabble tiles and started pondering what I could make with all these letters. Ornaments, of course! I switched letters and made all sorts of different words. I finally decided on three different words for my own tree.
Here's what you'll need:
- Scrabble tiles
- hot glue
- popsicle sticks
- wire
- raffia or ribbon (optional)
I arranged my letters in order and flipped them over for gluing. I used a popsicle stick to keep all the letters straight and flat.
I decided on using a pretty thick wire to hang the ornament with. For two reasons; One, it's what I had on hand and two, I like the way it looks better than a ribbon or ornament hook.
And my three words: Faith, Hope and Love.
Blessings.

I love the idea. In fact I used scrabble tiles on my FP mantel this year, however I just used the display it comes with. Happy Holidays to you. I am now following, would love for you to pop over sometime too.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! I'm loving Scrabble tiles right now. Thinking I'll be on a hunt for more next yard sale season. =o)
ReplyDeleteJust found this post and blogged about this super cute idea.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!
Great idea to make ornaments or just little gifts. I've been going to thrift stores to look for scrabble games just for the tile pieces. How did you glue to wire to the tile?
ReplyDeleteVery cute.
Thank you Kate and Connie!
ReplyDeleteConnie, I used my hot glue gun to attach the wire to the tiles. It seems to work just fine, I haven't had any complaints. =o)
CUTE! My family is full of scrabble addicts! Yes, myself included... Anyway, I would LOVE to do magnets (for the non-celebrating folk) and ornaments for our tree! I'm so stealing this... And by the way, check Good will, they have scrabble all the time. We get it for replacement tiles, it's usually aournd a buck, can't beat it!
